Colleges are the lifeblood of education in Ontario. From the local college administration to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the CSA keeps decision-makers informed of the student position.

Making the appropriate investments into postsecondary education, while keeping students as the priority, are the keys to a successful system. The CSA continues to be a key player in all of the Ontario government’s stakeholder consultations as the official representative of Ontario’s college and college-university students.

We are proud to have influence through numerous avenues when acting on issues that affect college and college-university students on a regular basis.

Tuition and ancillary fees
Through our key role in stakeholder consultations and our membership’s clear drive through our campaigns, the CSA believes in a tuition and ancillary fee framework that focuses on accountability and puts students first.

College collective bargaining
Through our unprecedented CollegeStrike.com media and communication campaigns, as well as educating student leaders on their role in the process, the CSA has been held in high regard by both the management and the staff for our effectiveness in providing clear, unbiased information during negotiations.

Transferability
Be it from college to college, college to university, or university to college, students deserve that their prior learning is recognized appropriately. Developing a credit validation system for Ontario’s students that addresses the challenges of transferring between institutions is one of CSA’s current top priorities.

Accessibility to education Consistent and fair tuition fees are important; however a financial aid system that reflects the true cost of education should always be a high priority on every government’s agenda. The CSA is proud to speak about the challenges experienced by students while advocating our positions and priorities.

Quality education
Our members are a true testament to the fact that colleges are a valuable choice for postsecondary education. Working with our partners, including the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, as well as the Ontario government, the CSA advocates for industry-driven curriculum, qualified teachers, state-of-the-art learning resources, and an overall better quality of education for Ontario’s college and college-university students.

College funding
Ontario’s college system turns out thousands of graduates every year who go on to make a positive impact on the province however is the lowest funded per student in the country. The CSA is continuing to work on behalf of its members to address this important issue so that the proper investments are made in the backbone of postsecondary education – training and applied learning. Investing in Ontario’s colleges is investing in a strong, prosperous future for all of Ontario.
