The College Student Alliance (CSA) is a member-driven advocacy and student leadership organization which proudly serves Ontario’s college and college-university students. The CSA currently represents 16 colleges and 23 student associations with over 109,000 full-time student members throughout the province.

Founded in 1975, the CSA is the only dedicated, officially recognized voice for college and college-university students in Ontario.

This official status enables the organization – and its members – to be represented on nearly every government committee and task force relating to postsecondary education in Ontario.

CSA’s main competencies include capacity building for its members, effective student advocacy and student leadership training.

The CSA has taken ownership on a number of important student issues, most notably tuition increases and transferability. Striving to influence policy, the CSA uses a number of avenues to create position and research papers, forge important working relationships with key organizations, and launch communication and lobbying campaigns with the support of the membership.

Members enjoy access to an exclusive online intranet with priceless information to help them do their jobs. Furthermore, with the pool of knowledge from the Secretariat, the Board of Directors and CSA partners, members also receive support services to answer any questions that may come up during the term as elected student leaders.

In addition to the knowledge base, members also benefit from networking opportunities through use of email listservs, online forums and quarterly general assemblies. These assemblies are where the CSA trains student leaders. It welcomes important speakers on a range of topics that are vital to the success of student associations. The CSA prides itself on constantly improving its delivery of these events to make its members the best possible student leaders they can be.
